HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss sophomore men's golfer Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) earned one of six Player of the Month honors from AmateurGolf.com in an announcement by the media outlet this week.
"This is a fantastic honor for Ryan and his great play as of late," said Southern Miss men's golf coach Eddie Brescher. "It comes as no surprise to those that are around Ryan on a daily basis. He is very focused and driven to be the absolute best he can. He works hard and deserves every honor that comes his way."
In three tournaments during the month, Dupuy opened the month with a fifth-place showing in the Oregon State Invitational (74-68-70) compiling a minus-one 212, before winning his first two collegiate tournaments in his other events during October. Dupuy shot a 54-hole score of a minus-eight 208 (69-67-72) in his first win at the Little Rock Invitational, before capturing a 12-under 204 (66-69-69) to collect the White Sands Bahamas Classic championship in Nassau earlier this week.
Dupuy defeated Luke Sample of Duke in a playoff hole to win his second crown.
With his second individual medalist honor, Dupuy became the first Golden Eagle to win more than one tournament in a season since Casey Fernandez won three during the 2014-15 campaign. His 204-stroke total was his lowest 54-hole output of his collegiate career. During his last event, Dupuy posted the lowest score on Par 5s with a 10-under par, averaging 4.17 per hole. He also tied for second-most birdies with 16 in the event and shot par or better on 49 of the 54 holes.
Twelve of his 15 rounds this fall were par and below and he had seven of which were in the 60sThis season, Dupuy has posted the lowest scoring average on the team through five events at 69.80.
In the month of October, he averaged 69.33 strokes per round and six of the nine rounds were in the 60s.
Dupuy and the Golden Eagles return to action Feb. 13-14 at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate being played at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove.
