Fields Tied for First at The Judson; Golden Eagles in Second After Day One

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â On her home course at The Hattiesburg Country Club, Jacee Fields is in a three-way tie for first place through 36 holes at The Judson. The Golden Eagles are in second place on the team leaderboard behind Sun Belt rival South Alabama.Â
Fields utilized a pair of two-under 70's to sit even with Delia Gibbs (Belmont) and Malia Uyeshiro (South Alabama). The Fort Worth, Texas native had two birdies in her opening round before doubling that total to four birdies in the second round. Her final three birdies came on the back nine, including a birdie on the 18th hole. Elena Melich joins Fields in the top five as the sophomore opened the tournament with a one-under 71. Melich then fired a 74 with two birdies in the second round to sit tied for fourth heading into Tuesday.Â
Freshman Alma Betoret is tied for eighth after carding an even-par 72 on the second 18. She started her day with a two-over 74 and finished with five birdies over her 36 holes. Making her season debut, Merche Corbacho delivered an even-par 72 during her afternoon round to sit tied for 13th. Corbacho tallied five birdies today, including three in her opening round 76.Â
Momoka Ando delivered a second-round 74 to sit tied for 26th, while Icie Cockerham and Friend Chompitakdacha are tied for 40th. Cockerham fired a four-over 76 in her season debut. Taylor Trible (52nd) and Fernanda Gorostiaga (56th) rounded out the Southern Miss lineup with a 158 and 162, respectively.
Southern Miss will tee off at 8:30 a.m. via a shotgun start to kick off the final round of The Judson. Final live stats HERE.
