Men's Basketball to Host Delta State in Tuesday Night Exhibition

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â On the eve on the 2022-23 season kicking off against William Carey a week from today, the Southern Miss men's basketball team will host Delta State in an exhibition game on Tuesday night. Admission at Reed Green Coliseum is free for the 7 p.m. tip off.Â

The Need to Know
- Nine new players will grace the Southern Miss roster this season: Austin Crowley (Ole Miss), Neftali Alvarez (Mercer), Cobie Montgomery (Triton), Victor Hart (FIU), Nico Aguirre (Southwest Baptist), Donovan Ivory (Green Bay), GianFranco Grafals (Eckerd), Felipe Haase (Mercer) and Marcelo Perez (Barry)
- The Golden Eagle roster is built with experience as the average age is 22.1 years old, while newcomers have combined for over 300 games of Division I experience
- Head coach Jay Ladner returns Tyler Morman, Mo Arnold, Denijay Harris, DeAndre Pinckney, Trey Alfonso, Jeff Armstrong and Tate Ryder from last year's team
- DeAndre Pinckney is the top returner in terms of points per game (8.9), 3-point field goals (30), total rebounds (176), steals (16), blocks (13)Â and total minutes (818)Â
- Spending two seasons at each South Carolina and Mercer, Haase has accumulated 1,228 career points and 654 total rebounds
- Haase has produced 11.9 ppg and 14.8 ppg in each of his last two seasons at Mercer
- Haase was named Preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team, Lindy's Sports Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team and Lindy's Sports Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year
- Only 24 percent of Southern Miss' offense from last year returns
