HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball will host their annual Lady Eagle Golf Classic at Canebrake Country Club this Friday, Sept. 10, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
"We're thrilled to be able to partner with Canebrake Country Club once again to host this wonderful event," head coach Joye Lee-McNelis said. "A lot of work has been done to make this a first-class tournament and we can't wait to see everyone out on the golf course."
New to the tournament this year, the Lady Eagles have partnered with Long Drive for Heroes to raise awareness and funds for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Long Drive for Heroes works with event organizers to entertain the tournament participants by creating excitement when using the long drive shots of our professional, veteran and supporting competitors.
The silent auction will feature sports memorabilia from multiple Golden Eagle legends. Fans can bid on items such as a Brett Favre Autographed Southern Miss Helmet, Brian Dozier Autographed Bat and two season tickets to Southern Miss men's basketball, baseball and football.
On top of the Southern Miss relics, participants will be able to bid on a Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson autographed Masters flag, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer autographed Masters flag and Sylvester Stallone autographed boxing glove.

"I'm thankful for all of our local businesses being willing to partner with us," Director of Basketball Operations Mack Gardner said. "Hattiesburg is a special community, and I'm looking forward to seeing everything come together on Friday as we enjoy a great day of golf and fellowship with Lady Eagle basketball."
