Golden Eagles Fall in Opening Exhibition Game

Orange Beach, Ala. – The Southern Miss soccer women's team fell to the University of Florida 2-1, in its opening season exhibition game at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
The Golden Eagles started off strong with a first shot by freshman Mia Sadler (Jacksonville, Fla.- St. John's Country Day). Southern Miss was the first team to be on the board thanks to a right-footed shot in the bottom right corner from freshman Adaira Nakano (London, Ontario- St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic S.S.).
After the break, the Gators leveled the score in the 67th minute. A late penalty kick against the Golden Eagles put Florida in front, 2-1.
The Black and Gold will finish exhibition play on Saturday, Aug. 14 as they take on ULM in Madison, Miss. at 5 p.m. CT.
