Graduates Erin Packer and Lauren Shoemaker Qualify for 2021 USGA Women's Mid-Am Championship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Former Golden Eagle women's golfers Erin (Doyle) Packer and Lauren (Judson) Shoemaker have qualified for the 2021 USGA Women's Mid-Amateur Championship. The event is slated for Sept. 25-30 at Berkeley Hall Club (North Course) in Bluffton, S.C.

Packer and Shoemaker both qualified for the Mid-Am at the Canongate I Golf Club in Sharpsburg, Ga. Shoemaker and Packer placed third and fourth, respectively. Shoemaker fired a three-over 75, while Packer shot a four-over 76.
A 2014 graduate, Shoemaker was a two-time WGCA All-American Scholar. She is tied for the most eagles throughout a Southern Miss career with three. Shoemaker's top finish as a Golden Eagle was eighth place at the UAB Fall Beach Bash during her redshirt junior campaign. As a senior, the Roswell, Ga. native shot a 12-over 156 at the Lady Eagle Invitational to finished T-16th. Â
Packer is tied for the most rounds played during one season in program history with 31 in her junior campaign. Packer is tied with Valentina Haupt for the most career rounds played as a Golden Eagle with 115. All in all, Packer recorded two tournament wins while donning the black and gold. She was a First Team All-Conference USA selection and GTE Academic All-American as a senior in 2000.
