Richards Concludes Illustrious Career at NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Three-time NCAA All-American Eric Richards saw his time in the Black and Gold come to an end on Friday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

"Eric had an outstanding career as a Golden Eagle," head coach Jon Stuart said. "I wish his final meet would have had a better result, but it doesn't diminish how great a student-athlete he was."

Richards cleared the bar at 6'10.75" on his first attempt of the day but was unsuccessful in his next three attempts as he finished tied for 19th.

In his time with Southern Miss, Richards made 20 trips to the podium, including two Conference USA high jump titles, while also setting the school record at the Houston G5 Super 22 Invitational, jumping to a height of 7'4.5" and capturing one of his 10 event titles.

"I'm so very proud of all he was done and the person he has become," Stuart concluded.
