Pitcher Tyler Lantz Earns C-USA Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship

DALLAS – Conference USA honored the 14 accomplished recipients of the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship on Thursday, including Southern Miss pitcher Tyler Lantz (Collinsville, Miss.).
This year marks the 13th time the award has been named after Dr. Jim Castañeda, who served Rice for 46 years as an educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative before he passed in 2008. Every season, C-USA grants the $4,000 scholarship to distinguished graduates selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Conference USA Board of Directors.
Lantz becomes the second-straight postgraduate scholarship recipient to represent the Southern Miss baseball program. The two-year letterwinner compiled a 3.75 GPA as an exercise science major and is on track to attend the University of Mississippi Medical Center's Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. Lantz was named to C-USA's Honor Roll and Southern Miss' Dean's List in 2020.
