Men's Tennis Finishes No. 10 in Final ITA Southern Region Rankings

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis team garnered another high finish in the final ITA Southern Region rankings, coming in at No. 10.

The Golden Eagles (7-3) previously finished eighth in 2018, ninth in 2017 and eighth in 2016. This year's team also had just one senior and five sophomores.

"Our team, and especially our young players, responded well to this unusual season," head coach Zubin Engineer said. "I was proud of the way they fought on and off the court to find success."

This year's team started 5-0, the best by the program since 2005, with Engineer also earning his 100th Southern Miss win in the process. The Golden Eagles also posted a 3.451 GPA for the spring, the highest of any men's team on campus.

Freshman Olimjon Nabiev earned Second-Team All-Conference Singles honors, the first Golden Eagle with postseason honors since 2018, after going 8-1.
