Olimjon Nabiev Tabbed to the C-USA All-Conference Singles Second Team

Freshman Olimjon Nabiev earns All-Conference honors for the first time in his Golden Eagle career.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Conference USA announced on Tuesday that freshman Olimjon Nabiev was selected to the C-USA All-Conference Singles Second Team.
"I am very proud of Olimjon Nabiev for his efforts and making the All-CUSA Singles Second Team," said head coach Zubin Engineer. " Olimjon arrived in Spring 2021 and right away delivered by winning the opening season match in singles and doubles against UAB. He continued to excel and won all eight matches except for one match which was stopped at 3-3 in the third set after the team had won. Olimjon showed maturity and responsibility throughout the semester in both the classroom and on the field. In the classroom he finished with a 3.64 GPA."
The selection marks the first time the Golden Eagles have received Conference USA honors since the 2018 season.
The Uzbekistan native finished the season with an outstanding record of 8-1. Nabiev dominated singles competition earning a position of 1,330 in ATP Singles Rankings.
Nabiev notched a five-match winning streak this season and earned the highest winning percentage in Conference USA singles at .889.
The Golden Eagle freshman enjoyed critical victories this season claiming wins over UAB, Nichols and Jacksonville State. Nabiev also notched a powerful singles victory over perennial powerhouse South Alabama.
Nabiev concludes the 2021 season leading the Golden Eagles in singles wins and directed the team to two shutouts and the program's best winning percentage since 2005.
