Johnson named Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Trey Johnson ran a personal-best 46.31 in the 400m at the Southern Miss Invitational to capture gold in the event and earn Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Week after his performance this past weekend.

"Trey put together an excellent race for his first 400m of the outdoor season," head coach Jon Stuart said. "He'll get better and better as we move deeper into the season."

The Fayetteville, Ga. native was also a part of the 4x400 relay team who won the event with a time of 3:11.84 to help the Golden Eagles finish with 13 event titles as a team during the home meet.

Johnson remains at third all-time in program history in the 400m and currently sits at No. 2 in Conference USA this season, while holding at No. 21 nationally in the event.

The Black and Gold are in action this weekend at a pair of meets, including the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala and the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford, Miss.
