Men’s Golf Holds Ninth Place after Opening Day at Tiger Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Brice Wilkinson put up rounds of 72 and 71 to lead Southern Miss following the opening day of the fourth annual Tiger Invitational being played in Columbia, Mo.
Wilkinson's 143 stroke total put him in a tie for 12th-place after 36 holes at the par 72, 7,221-yard course at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The team shot a pair of 297 rounds to compile a 594 score, which puts them in ninth in the 14-team event.
After shooting a 78 over the first circuit, Brian Richards followed that with an even-par 72 as he ended his day with a 150 and in a 44th-place tie. Hunter Atkins was one stroke back of Richards on the day with a 151 after compiling rounds of 75 and 76 to hold a 49th-place tie.
Matt Lorenz collected rounds of 73 and 79 for a 152 and a 53rd-place tie, while Robbie Latter held a 63rd-place tie with a 77 and a 78. He also collected the team's second hole in one in as many tournaments as he aced the par 3, 260-yard hole No. 7 during his second round.
Kansas State leads the team standings with a two-round stroke total of 558, followed by host Missouri (560), Wichita State (567), Illinois State (572), UMKC and North Alabama (579), SIUE (582), Missouri State (588), Southern Miss (594), South Dakota State and Morehead State (596), South Dakota (600), Bowling Green State (606) and Drake (611).
The final round of the event begins at 8 a.m., Tuesday, with a shotgun start. Fans can follow the live scoring by clicking here.
