Sarah Medik Earns C-USA All-Academic Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss women's tennis sophomore Sarah Medik has been named to Conference USA's All-Academic Team.
The Dornbirn, Austria, native holds a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in international business. On the court, she is 5-3 in singles and 5-4 in doubles. Medik was named to the league's All-Freshman Team as well last year, the first-such Golden Eagle honoree in the three seasons of the award's history.
Medik also earned C-USA Athlete of the Week honors on March 24 after winning all four contests in Southern Miss' home sweep of league foes UAB and Louisiana Tech. Earlier this spring, she defeated Yu Fujioka of South Alabama, a former Sun Belt Player of the Year.
Medik was one of four Golden Eagles last summer to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, and she is the first to earn academic distinction from the league since Tjasa Jerse in 2019.
Southern Miss begins C-USA Championships play Thursday at 9 a.m. CT against Middle Tennessee. The event is held in Denton, Texas.
