Southern Miss Remains in Fifth After Second Day of C-USA Championships

DADE CITY, Fla. -- Friend Chompitakdacha carded an even-par 72 to jump into a tie for ninth as the Southern Miss women's golf team completed its second round of the C-USA Championships Tuesday.
It actually began the previous afternoon due to ominous storm threats for the day. Wednesday's third and final round will begin as scheduled.
Chompitakdacha's tally marked her second par/better round of the season and came on the heels of Merche Corbacho earning her fourth on Monday. The pair are separated by two strokes, with Corbacho tied for 15th, and each score marks their best through 36 holes this season.
Valeria Pichardo also holds a solid tie for 19th. She also had a team-high four birdies in the second round, while the top two performers had three apiece.
Southern Miss has produced its lowest round in five of its eight tournaments and will look to do the same in this one.
Wednesday's action can again be followed on Golfstat.com. Emily Cox will start things off at 7 a.m. CT with Chompitakdacha being the last to tee off at 7:40.
