Southern Miss Tied for Third After First Round; Weather Suspends Second

DADE CITY, Fla. -- With weather playing a significant role in Conference USA Championship rescheduling, the Golden Eagles held a tie for third through the first round. The second, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was moved up due to forecasts but suspended at 5 p.m. CT.
Despite two lightning delays, Merche Corbacho tied for eighth with an even-par 72, while Valeria Pichardo and Friend Chompitakdacha followed at 13th with a 73.
The team's 294 marked a season-low, as well as its best since March 2019 at the UNF Collegiate. The early score also comes on the heels of the Golden Eagles finishing third at the Cardinal Challenge in Texas two weeks ago.
