Softball Falls to Mississippi State in Extra Innings

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Southern Miss softball team went toe-to-toe with the Mississippi State Bulldogs Wednesday afternoon but fell short, losing 3-2 in eight innings.
The Golden Eagles move to 20-19 on the season.
From the Circle
Makenna Pierce took the start for the Golden Eagles pitching a complete game. Pierce gave up three runs on 7.1 innings pitched. She allowed four walks on the outing and gave up only one extra-base hit. Pierce recorded the midweek loss and moves to 2-7 on the season.
At the Plate
Senior Alyssa Davis led the Golden Eagles offense going 2-4 at the plate. Freshman Maria Smith had an outstanding day driving in an RBI on a line drive double in top of the second inning. Amber Pack competed at the plate drawing three walks and plating a run.
Next Time Out
The Golden Eagles face off against the South Alabama Jaguars Tuesday, April 20 at 6:00 PM versus South Alabama in Hattiesburg. The two will meet for the first time this season and the 23rd time in program history.
