Men's Golf Travels North to Participate in the Mountaineer Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday for its final regular season tournament prior to the Conference USA Championship when they participate in the Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport, W.Va.
The event will take place at the par 72, 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club and will feature two rounds on Monday along with 18 final holes Tuesday.
The teams include host West Virginia, Appalachian State, Chattanooga, George Mason, George Washington, Georgia Southern, Loyola University Maryland, Marshall, Robert Morris, Southern Miss, UCONN, WKU and Xavier.
The Golden Eagles will utilize the six-player team of Hunter Atkins, Robbie Latter, Matt Lorenz, Thongpipat Rattanayanon, Brian Richards and Brice Wilkinson.
In 2020-21, Richards leads the way for the Golden Eagles with a 72.06 stroke per round average having played in six of the team's seven events this season. Richards is second at 73.70, while Atkins is third at 73.82.
The squad comes off its second-best round of the season with a three-under 285 on the last day of the Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
