HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss volleyball team will conclude its regular-season home slate Sunday (12 p.m.) and Monday (11 a.m.) with North Texas.
Both contests will stream free on CUSA.tv. Southern Miss recently announced that 100 general-admission and 50 student tickets are available for the weekend, with more information here.
The C-USA Championships race remains wide-open on the West side, with the Golden Eagles and UTEP sitting at 4-4 in the No. 3 spot, followed by North Texas and UTSA at 4-6. Southern Miss will still have the Miners the following week in a makeup series.
Southern Miss (9-6, 4-4 C-USA) are 6-5 at home. The squad most recently snapped its 12-match losing streak to UTSA in dramatic fashion Monday, overcoming a 24-20 deficit in the third set and 15-14 in the fifth to shock the Roadrunners.
Eleven different Golden Eagles have earned starting nods, not including libero Madison Lawler who has held that spot each time. Duquesne Moratzka is seventh in C-USA for both total and average kills (198 and 3.54 per set). While the team celebrated Senior Day for the UAB series, this will mark the final home contests for Lawler and Piper Matsumoto. Lawler's 1,341 digs are only 39 away from catching Sharon Montgomery (1985-89) for No. 7 in school history.
The Mean Green (9-9, 4-6 C-USA) are fourth in league play with a .248 hitting percentage and have won the last five meetings.
