Cox's Season-Low Round Highlights First Day in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Three Golden Eagles led the team with 75s in their first round of the MountainView Collegiate after Friday's action.
Valeria Pichardo, Emily Cox and Friend Chompitakdacha were all 3-over par for No. 43, while Merche Corbacho is tied for 59th with a 78. For Cox, it was her best out of 16 rounds on the year and since the final one of her injury-shortened sophomore season, the Jim West Challenge (Oct. 29, 2018).
Chompitakdacha's tally was also her lowest in four rounds, and Pichardo is coming off her highest-career finish. As a team, this marked Southern Miss' lowest first-round score out of seven tournaments so far.
Southern Miss is only four strokes from the top-10, and live scoring for Saturday is available on Golfstat.com.
