• Marshall has two players closing in on reaching the 1,000-point plateau in their careers. Sophomore Savannah Wheeler and senior transfer Brianah Ferby. The two have combined for over 200 points this season. Wheeler has 923 points, all with the Herd, and is averaging 15.6 points per game throughout her career. Ferby, with 903 total points in her career, came to Marshall in the summer of 2021 after playing four seasons at Austin Peay.
• The Herd allowed LA Tech to score 16 points in the first quarter on Thursday, but then only another 28 points over the next three periods as Marshall won 62-44. Marshall's defense held the Lady Techsters to just eight points in the second and seven points in the third.
• Wheeler had a career night against Oakland at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic. Wheeler scored 40 points, becoming the first Herd player with 40 in a game since Kristina Behnfeldt back in February of 1999. Wheeler did most of her damage inside of the three-point arc shooting 14-of-18 from the floor and was just 2-of-4 from three.
