Get to Know: Morgan Dillard

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball is set to open their 2021-22 season in less than a month against the William Carey Crusaders on Nov. 9 at Reed Green Coliseum. Before head coach Joye Lee-McNelis embarks on her 18th season at the helm, we'll introduce the six newest Lady Eagles to join the program. Next up, is freshman Morgan Dillard from Sanford, Fla.
Q: Why did you choose to play basketball at Southern Miss?
Dillard: From the first call with Coach McNelis, I knew this is where I needed to be.
Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Dillard: Probably to fly or be able to breathe underwater.
Q: What's your favorite holiday?
Dillard: Most definitely Thanksgiving or Christmas because of the time with family and the food.
Q: If you had the opportunity to play another sport for Southern Miss, which would you choose?
Dillard: Probably soccer because it seem so fun.
Q: What do you think you bring to the table for the team this year?
Dillard: I think I bring a versatile playmaker who is going to do anything to win.
Q: How would your 10-year-old self react to the new that you would one day be playing D1 basketball?
Dillard: I would probably say I told you so.
Q: What is an interesting fact about yourself that Southern Miss fans should know?
Dillard: I can juggle.
Q: What is your favorite uniform combo?
Dillard: Black uniform with an under shirt and tights. (I look good in all black.)
Q: Where is your dream vacation destination?
Dillard: I want to go to Paris.
Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would that be?
Dillard: Chipotle. You can always switch it up.
Q: What makes the coaching staff at Southern Miss different from other coaches you've had in your career?
Dillard: They're all different in their own ways, but all want the best for you.
Q: What makes Southern Miss special?
Dillard: The people, most definitely. Everyone here is so kind and in good spirits.
