GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Southern Miss beach volleyball program traveled to Gulf Shores, Ala. to take part in the 4th Annual Collegiate Beach Bash, hosted by Rally Volleyball on Oct. 30.Â
Eight pairs of Golden Eagles participated in exhibition competition against the LSU Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Tulane Green Wave and Spring Hill College Badgers.Â
"To have the opportunity to compete against some of the top NCAA Division I and II programs in the fall in Florida State, LSU, Tulane and Spring Hill College is a huge bonus," said beach coach Shawn Taylor. "This is our first full fall season since the inception of the program, and it will no doubt aid in our growth."
The Golden Eagles faced off against teams from the other four programs in two-set matches. Southern Miss picked up 14 set victories throughout the day, including a pair of set wins over teams from LSU.
"We are looking forward to next weekend and traveling to Huntsville where we'll see some new teams, along with a few that we haven't seen yet this fall," Taylor said.
Southern Miss next heads to Huntsville, Ala. for another fall tournament hosted by Rally Volleyball on Nov. 6. The Golden Eagles will face off once again with LSU and Tulane and take on new foes, Georgia State, Chattanooga and UAB.
