May Earns C-USA All-Academic Team Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss junior Lina May was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, announced on Tuesday morning.
The Vancleave native has worked towards a 3.737 GPA in Kinesiology during her time as a Golden Eagle.
"We're proud of Lina and the work that she has done both in the classroom and for our team," said head coach Nick Gibson. "She's more than deserving of this recognition and I'm excited to see what she can do this weekend at the conference championships."
May has been named to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll in both 2019-20 and 2020-21. She also took home the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award in winter of 2019.
The 2019 Second Team All-Conference member missed last season due to injury, but returned with a personal best of 17:25.55 at the North Alabama Showcase, which was good for 16th overall and moved her from 11th to fifth in program history for the 5k. May has finished in the top 25 in all three meets so far this season.
May and the rest of the Golden Eagles will be competing this Saturday at the Conference USA XC Championships hosted by the University of Charlotte in Charlotte, N.C.
