HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss sophomore women's golfer Friend Chompitakdacha was recognized Wednesday on Conference USA's Third Team.
Chompitakdacha led the Golden Eagles in stroke average (74.61) and par/better rounds (5), while the former ranks as the fourth-lowest in single-season school history. Her best finish was a tie-for-12th that featured career-lows of 219 and a 69 in the final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational (which featured No. 1 Wake Forest and No. 30/host Furman). It was the 19th sub-70 round in program history.
The Chiangmai, Thailand, native also had one of two eagles for the team on the year. Over the six tournaments, she was 28-14-3 against C-USA opposition. Chompitakdacha came in as a mid-year freshman and improved her score by 2.26 strokes this year. Despite that and a shortened sophomore season (due to COVID-19), she has six par/better rounds out of 33 total.
Chompitakdacha is the first Golden Eagle to earn league postseason honors since Nichada Satasuk in 2018. Valentina Haupt was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the C-USA Championships last year.
