Leaving with a Family: Lindsey Smith

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -Â With the cancellation of spring competition and practices, my time as a collegiate athlete, as for many other seniors, has drawn to a close. As I reflect on my time as a student-athlete, with all of its highs and lows, I have nothing but gratitude for the experiences I've had and the individuals I have met along the way.
Playing college beach volleyball was a far off dream just two years ago, but because of a chance connection from prior experience with Coach Stephanie Radecki and Coach Jennifer McCall, I was granted the opportunity to continue my student-athlete career and the chance to grow a new sport. Since my first moment arriving in the South, I was humbled by the way I was welcomed into the Southern Miss Volleyball community with open arms. My time here may have been short, but it does not take away from how enjoyable it was. I am departing my volleyball career satisfied with a lifetime of memories. The places I have been, people I have met and joys I have experienced would not have been possible without the support of my beach family I came to know at Southern Miss. Home isn't always a location on a map, rather the places you leave a part of yourself. Hattiesburg will forever be a home because of all of the special individuals who have helped shape me into the person I am today.
