Season-Low Round Highlights Women's Golf's First 36 Holes in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Sunday's first-round postponement had little impact on the Southern Miss women's golf team Monday, as the squad carded a solid 15-over 599 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate. The season-low, 5-over 297 in the second round helped it to a No. 11 standing.
The field features five teams in Golfstat's Top-50, as well as three others in the top-100.
Friend Chompitakdacha shot for par (73) in each round to tie for 20th (four birdies on the day, including two in a row on No. 7 and 8 on the second). She also continued to showcase her consistency by tying for second in the field with 28 holes for par. Ashlie Hobbs made her collegiate debut and produced a 3-over 76 in her second round, a three-stroke improvement from the first.
Maria Toledo Bailey, whose first tourney came last week, carded a career-low, even-par 73 in the second round that featured three birdies on the back nine. Her five on the day led the team, followed by Hobbs and Chompitakdacha with four.
The Golden Eagles are four strokes behind host Tulane (595) for No. 10, while Nos. 6-9 are between 587 and 589.
The final round will commence Tuesday morning from English Turn Golf and Country Club, and live scoring will again be available through Golfstat.com.
