Merche Corbacho Leads Golden Eagles To Start Lady Red Wolves Invitational

JONESBORO, Ark.-- Freshman Merche Corbacho was unfazed in her first collegiate action, pacing the Southern Miss women's golf team with a 5-over 149 to tie for 24th after the first 36 holes of the Lady Red Wolves Classic.
The Castellon, Spain, native produced a pair of birdies. Julie Baker led the squad in that category with four, followed by Emily Cox and Tenley Moretti with three apiece. Baker's eight-stroke improvement marked the second-best among the field.
Cox's consecutive 78 scores marked her best rounds since her final action of October 2018 (Jim West Challenge in Texas) before she was sidelined by a season-ending injury.
Southern Miss, which improved its third-round score from the second in four out of six events last season, will look to find similar success Tuesday morning. Live scoring will again be available through Golfstat.com.
