
Men's Tennis Completes 7-0 Victory over Rattlers

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss won its third-consecutive game to begin the season, this time knocking off Florida A&M, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon.
"Our team has responded to the challenge of three matches in one week, especially with how young we are," head coach Zubin Engineer said. "It's January, so it's early, but we want to keep seeing progress from singles and doubles as we find our identity."
It marked the Golden Eagles' fifth-straight year defeating the Rattlers, as well. There was a walk-over in Southern Miss' favor for the deciding doubles matchup.
Despite suffering its first doubles defeat with freshmen Emilio Bowen and Antoine Androine gliding by their foes. It was also each of their first doubles action of the season. As far as singles go, it was the second-straight day that two of the team's three-setters went to a tiebreaker, and this time it was Matthieu Peres and Alexander Gima prevailing 12-10 and 10-8, respectively.
The Golden Eagles next host West Alabama on Thursday at 2 p.m.
