Eric Richards Earns Weekly Accolade from C-USA

The senior had a first-place finish on Saturday at the Samford Open.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Conference USA announced its weekly track and field awards on Tuesday afternoon, and Southern Miss senior Eric Richards earned his first accolade of the season for the high jump.
Richards, a senior from Utica, Miss., earned the accolade after a first-place finish in the high jump at the Samford Open on Saturday. He jumped to a height of 7'0.5" at the Birmingham CrossPlex to take the win. He out-jumped student-athletes from Voorhees, Central Arkansas, Samford, Meridian CC, Jackson State, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Alabama A&M, and Mississippi College.Â
The week prior at the UAB Blazer Invite, Richards jumped to first place in the C-USA rankings at 5'1.75" and is tied for eighth in the rankings nationally.
