Cy Young Winner Jake Peavy is Featured Speaker at First Pitch Banquet Jan. 25

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Tickets remain on sale for this year's Southern Miss Baseball 1st Pitch Banquet set for Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Thad Cochran Center on the Golden Eagle campus.
Sponsored by the Southern Miss Dugout Club, the banquet starts at 6 p.m. on the 3rd floor banquet room area.
This year's guest speaker is former 15-year Major League pitcher, Jake Peavy, who played for four different MLB teams, including the San Diego Padres, Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants and the Boston Red Sox.
Peavy, a three-time All-Star, won the 2007 Cy Young Award with the Padres, posting a 19-6 record that season with a 2.54 ERA. He fanned 240 and walked just 68 in 223 1/3 innings over 34 starts during that campaign.
The Mobile, Ala., native was also part of two World Series victories, winning with the Red Sox in 2013 and the Giants in 2014. He was taken in the 15th round of the 1999 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Padres.
