Women's Golf Completes First Two Rounds in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team played its first 36 holes of the season on Monday, holding the No. 15 spot at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate at the Cherokee Country Club.
Friend Chompitakdacha produced a 1-over 71 for the best round of the day, including her first-career eagle on the par-five, No. 11 hole, one of 10 overall for the opening day. She also added three birdies on the day.
Valeria Pichardo carded a team-high six birdies, including five in the first round. Two were back-to-back, while the other three came in a five-hole stretch.
Tenley Moretti had four birdies, while Julie Baker had three and Cassidy Evreniadis had two.
Baker also improved by 11 strokes in her second round, while Evreniadis and Chompitakdacha each moved three and four ahead, respectively.
The third and final round will begin at 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday. Live scoring is available via Golfstat.com.
