HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss graduate and former women's golf standout Valentina Haupt has earned C-USA Spring Spirit of Service recognition.
The Santiago, Chile native found success in more ways than one during her time at Southern Miss. Haupt recorded a 3.9 GPA as a sport management major and earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors every year. She served as the SAAC President in 2018-19 and initiated a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness, while also helping the athletics department as a marketing intern, and earned Who's Who distinction among Southern Miss students.
Haupt was a C-USA All-Tournament Team member this season (tying a career-low with a 2-under 214), just the second Golden Eagle ever to finish in the top-five at the conference championship. Her 115 career rounds tied for the school record, and she has the fifth-best career stroke average (76.22) in program history.
She joins Lina May (indoor track and field) and Ola Akinniyi (soccer) as winter and fall C-USA honorees, respectively.
