John Warren Named Male Field Athlete of the Year by C-USA

Warren finished his senior season with a fourth-place finish at Nationals.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – John Warren was named Male Field Athlete of the Year by Conference USA, the Conference announced Friday afternoon.
Warren, a senior from Prince George, Va., had a senior season which filled the record books.
During the indoor season, Warren competed in four meets before the Conference USA Championships. First up was UAB's Blazer Invitational, where he finished first place in the triple jump with a new personal-best mark at 55'2". He also competed in the long jump, where he finished in fourth place at 25'0.75". At the Conference Meet, Warren medaled in both the long jump and triple jump. He placed first in the triple jump, earning gold for his mark at 53'5.5". He earned bronze in the long jump at 24'0.75". He advanced on to the NCAA Indoor Championships, competing in the triple jump. He earned himself some hardware with his sixth-place finish, his best mark at 53'8.5".
In the outdoor season, Warren took part in four regular-season meets. In two meets, he just competed in the long jump, in one he competed solely in the triple, and at his final home meet, the Southern Miss Open, he competed in both. He took first place at the Crimson Tide Invitational, where he focused on the triple jump; his furthest mark was at 52'10.75". At the Southern Miss Open, the senior placed first in the triple at 53'4.25" and second in the long jump at 24'6.5". At the Conference Championships at Charlotte, Warren placed first in the triple jump with a mark at 52'6.5", meaning he had swept the triple jump medals for his senior season at Conference. He took silver in the long jump with a season-best mark at 24'9.25". He qualified for the NCAA East Regionals in both events, and ended up qualifying for the National meet in the triple jump after he finished fifth overall at the Preliminary meet. At the National Championship, Warren showed out; he jumped from sixth place up to fourth on his last attempt, where he broke his own school record and personal-best by jumping to a mark of 55'0.75".
Overall, Warren completes his time at Southern Miss holding three school records and two Conference USA records, as a four-time C-USA Champion, and garnering four NCAA All-American honors.
