HOUSTON, Texas -- A rainy morning and delay, coupled with Rice's home-court advantage, was too much for the Southern Miss men's tennis team on Friday, falling 4-1 to the host Owls.
Rice boasts the No. 41 singles and No. 46 doubles players in the nation, and each earned wins over the Golden Eagles. Jorman Reyes was stellar on No. 2 singles in grabbing a 6-3, 6-2 win over Eric Rutledge. Chung-Han Tsai and Matthieu Peres each had valiant efforts but were unable to come out victorious.
Reyes and Ronit Bisht had entered the day 5-1 in doubles, while Peres and Youssef Tamimount were 3-0 together.
The Golden Eagles will now play UTSA at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Roadrunners topped UAB 4-1 today.
