Southern Miss TF Sweeps Men's Weekly Accolades for Second Week

McKinely West and Eric Richards earn weekly accolades from Conference USA.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss track and field has swept the men's conference weekly awards for the second time in a row, this time with McKinely West and Eric Richards earning the accolades for their performances at the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge.
McKinely West placed second in the 100m in the A section at the meet, with a time of 10.13. His time placed third on the all-time list for the 100m dash at Southern Miss. He competed against student-athletes from Northwestern, LSU, Hinds CC, and McNeese State. The senior's time also ranks first in Conference USA and seventh in the NCAA.
Eric Richards had a third-place finish in the high jump at LSU's meet, with a jump of 7'02.50". Richards competed against LSU, Florida, Hinds CC, Mississippi State, Texas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Jackson State. His mark ranks first in Conference USA and is 11th in the NCAA. It also ranks third on the all-time list for the high jump at Southern Miss.Â
West, Richards and the rest of the Southern Miss track program will compete on Friday and Saturday in Hattiesburg at the Marshall Bell Track and Field Complex in the annual Southern Miss Open.Â
