Women's Golf Concludes Play at Memphis Intercollegiate

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. -- Henriette Syr carded a 76 in the third and final round of the Memphis Intercollegiate, completing three- and six-stroke improvements from the opener of the tourney, and Southern Miss finished in 12th place.
Syr's score was the team's best of the day, and it included a birdie on No. 10. Friend Chompitakdacha ultimately turned in the top overall performance for the Golden Eagles, a 16-over 229 that tied for 37th. That matched her career-best finish (UNF Collegiate) in the four spring tournaments.
Sophomore Valeria Pichardo, whose stellar rounds of 74 and 75 on Monday were the two-best of her career, finished tied for No. 52 with a 233, the best standing of her collegiate career.
Southern Miss found most of its success on par-fives, firing an overall five-over for the tournament, good for fifth in the field.
Penn State captured the team title with a 2-over 854, while Memphis' Michaela Fletcher took the individual championship with an 8-under 205.
Southern Miss now turns its attention to the Conference USA Championships (April 15-17) in Fort Myers, Fla.
