Men's Tennis Falls to ODU at C-USA Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - After inclement weather delayed the start of the Conference USA Championships, the Southern Miss men's tennis team got underway on Friday night in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The Golden Eagles fell to the second-seeded Monarchs of Old Dominion, 4-0.
Youssef Tamimount and Matthieu Peres nearly knocked off ODU's third doubles pair, but ultimately fell 7-5. At the top pairing, ChungHan Tsai and Mieszko Kwasniewski took the No. 22 doubles pair in the country to the wire. In the end, the Monarchs outlasted the pair en route to a 7-5 win, which secured the doubles point for the two seed.
The Monarchs were able to win at the top three singles positions to secure the quarterfinal win. Tom Ceccheto fell in straight sets at the second singles position, 6-1, 6-1. ODU extended its lead after Ronit Bisht fell by a 6-4, 6-3 score at the top singles spot. Jorman Reyes dropped the final match by a 6-4, 6-4 score to conclude the Southern Miss season. Tsai's match went unfinished after he took the first set at the fifth position.
The Golden Eagles finish the 2019 campaign with eight wins and nine losses. ODU will move on the semifinal round on Saturday.
