Valentina Haupt Earns Conference USA All-Tournament Team Honor

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Valentina Haupt, playing her 13th collegiate tournament in her home state, concluded her illustrious career with a 2-under 214 at the Conference USA Championships. It tied a personal-best score previously set twice, and the fourth-place finish marked her seventh-career, top-five standing (ninth in the top-10).
Haupt's final tally bests Henriette Syr's 215 in 2017 as the best by a Golden Eagle in Conference USA Championship history. Each of those feats marked the two instances that Southern Miss has placed on the league's all-tournament team. Haupt's other personal-best scores of 214 came at the FIU Pat Bradley (Fall 2018) and Magnolia Collegiate (Fall 2017).
"I'm extremely proud of Val's play this week," head coach Lucy Nunn said. "She's been building to a good tournament all semester, and it came at the right time to finish her Southern Miss career. She's one of the players that will be hard to replace because of what she represents for us on and off the golf course."
Haupt finishes the season with 10 rounds of par or better, which marks the third-straight year a Golden Eagle accomplished the feat (Nichada Satasuk each previous season). Her 115 career rounds ties Erin Doyle's all-time mark set from 1996-00.
Friend Chompitakdacha had a team-high three birdies Wednesday, helping her to a 4-over 76 that marked her best round of the tourney and a five-stroke improvement from the previous day. Cassidy Evreniadis lowered her score by seven strokes in the final round as well. Senior Miranda Holt also concluded her career with a tie for 38th.
Ana Gonzalez and UTSA claimed the individual (207) and team (207) titles by five and 12 strokes, respectively.
