Men’s Golf Completes Play at Old Waverly Collegiate Championship Tuesday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Brian Richards and Walker Kesterson shot a 69 and 73, respectively, to lead the Southern Miss men's golf team over the final 18 holes of the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship at West Point, Miss., Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles shot a final-round 300 to finish with a 901 stroke total and a 15th-place showing at the par-72, 7,000-yard Old Waverly Golf Club.
Richards, the sophomore from Gulf Breeze, Fla., finished the 54-hole event with an even-par 216 and a 26th-place tie, while Kesterson, the junior from Hartsburg, Mo., finished two strokes behind at 218 for a 36th-place tie.
Junior Matt Lorenz (Gulf Shores, Ala.) collected a final-round 83 to finish with a 236 stroke total and an 80th-place finish, while freshman Joey Kirkland (West Monroe, La.) added a 76 for a 237 total and a 81st-place showing. Sophomore Hunter Atkins of West Point, Miss., tied for 82nd place with a final-round 82 and a 239 total.
ULM won the team title with an 18-under 846, defeating Ole Miss by one stroke and No. 4 Vanderbilt by three strokes.
The Golden Eagles finish the 2018-19 schedule when they travel to Texarkana, Ark., to compete in the Conference USA Championships at Texarkana Country Club.
