Southern Miss Softball Travels to El Paso to Battle UTEP

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Golden Eagles (15-13, 2-4) will battle UTEP (8-20, 2-4) in a three-game weekend road series beginning on Saturday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. (CT). Game two of Saturday's doubleheader will follow shortly after the conclusion of game one. Southern Miss and UTEP will end the series with a 1:00 p.m. (CT) matchup on Sunday, March 24.
The series will be played at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex in El Paso, Texas.
The last time on the diamond
Southern Miss last took the diamond on Tuesday, March 19 when they hosted South Alabama in a midweek matchup. The Golden Eagles fell to the Jaguars by a final score of 4-0.
Noteworthy moment
Southern Miss sophomore infielder Jamie Powell earned her first start of the 2019 season against South Alabama on Tuesday.
The Petal, Miss. native started Tuesday night's game as the Golden Eagles' designated player and went 1-for-2 in the contest with a walk. Powell's hit came in the bottom of the third inning with one out when she lined a single to center field.
