Lady Eagles to Continue Their Season, Accepting a Bid to the WBI

Southern Miss to host on Thursday against Nicholls State at 6pm.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles season is not over yet as Southern Miss has accepted a bid to the WBI, hosting Nicholls State on Thursday at 6pm in Reed Green Coliseum. The journey continues for USM, who finished 17-12 in the regular season and 9-8 in Conference regular season and postseason.
"We are thankful for the opportunity to be a part of Postseason play," said Joye Lee-McNelis. "This tournament will give our young team valuable experience in preparation and participation of a 'win and advance' tournament. This mentality cannot be taught through practice or games – it is learned through experience. We are grateful for the WBI selecting us and our administration supporting us for this event. I am asking our community to come out and support our Lady Eagles and our quest for a Championship."
"Congratulations to our women's basketball program for being invited to participate in the 2019 WBI," said Interim Director of Athletics Jeff Mitchell. "I'm excited to watch the continued development of our young Lady Eagle basketball team."
The Lady Eagles will play the winner of the North Alabama - Georgia State matchup in a Saturday game, location to be determined.
