The point guard for the Lady Eagles earns the accolade for her performance against LA Tech.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles' junior point guard was named Player of the Week for Conference USA, announced on Monday.Â

A Preseason All-Conference selection, Shonte Hailes has played well for the Lady Eagles all season. She earned the Player of the Week accolade from C-USA for her performance against LA Tech on Saturday. She had a career-high 33 points for the Lady Eagles and tied several other season- and career-highs. She has scored a combined 63 points this season against the Lady Techsters, having career-high scoring in both games. The Quitman, Miss. native has had 13 games this season where she's shot in double-figures. The team's leader in both points and assists has had 14 games with five or more assists.

"She's taken ownership of our team. She played very passively before; she was not ready to take on that role. She's finally figured out that to win she's got to take on responsibility and she has accepted her role. She's truly the playmaker and the one that will make things happen for us."
