Southern Miss Softball Gears Up for the Getterman Classic

The Golden Eagles will take on UT Arlington and #16 Baylor on Friday.
WACO, Texas – After a midweek matchup against Nicholls in Thibodaux on Wednesday night, the Southern Miss softball team is continuing their road trip to Waco, Texas.
The Golden Eagles will participate in the Getterman Classic hosted by Baylor University February 15-17 at Getterman Stadium. Southern Miss, Baylor, Sam Houston State and UT Arlington make up the field for the Getterman Classic.
The opponents
Southern Miss (5-1) will face UT Arlington (2-3) in their first game of the Getterman Classic on Friday, February 15 at 12:30 p.m. (CT).
The Golden Eagles are 3-1 all-time against UT Arlington and all previous meetings between the two schools have been played as neutral site contests. The last time that the two met on the diamond was February 10, 2018 at the LSU Tournament in Baton Rouge, La. UT Arlington won the game by final score of 6-4.
In their second game of the day on Friday, Southern Miss will square off against the host #16 Baylor at 5:30 p.m. (CT).
Baylor currently leads the all-time series 6-2. The Golden Eagles are 1-1 when facing the Bears at home, 0-3 in contests played in Waco and 1-2 in neutral site matchups.
The last meeting between Southern Miss and Baylor took place on February 18, 2018 as part of the Black and Gold Invitational played in Hattiesburg. Baylor took the contest 3-2.
Southern Miss will kick off the second day of the Getterman Classic on Saturday, February 16 by taking on Sam Houston State (2-3) at 10:00 a.m. (CT).
The Bearkats hold a 4-2 all-time record against the Golden Eagles. Southern Miss is 1-1 in home matchups against Sam Houston State and 1-3 in neutral site contests. The Golden Eagles have yet to face the Bearkats in a true road game.
