HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team is in the Peach State for the Idle Hour Collegiate. There will be 36 holes on Monday with the final round Tuesday at the Idle Hour Country Club in Macon, Ga.
Live scoring from the par-72, 6,083-yard course is available via BirdieFire.com. The Golden Eagles will compete with the likes of No. 58 Seton Hall, Georgia State, James Madison, Radford, No. 84 Mercer, UNC Greensboro, Georgia Southern, Troy, Boise State, Cincinnati, Daytona State, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Lamar, No. 21 Charlotte and Western Carolina.
Southern Miss will be represented by Friend Chompitakdacha, Cassidy Evreniadis, Valeria Pichardo, Tenley Moretti and Julie Baker. Emily Cox will also compete as an individual.
Chompitakdacha boasts a team-low 73.78 stroke average that includes three par-or-better rounds. Her, Moretti and Pichardo will be the only members to compete in all four tournaments.
Chompitakdacha paced the team its last time out with a 10-over 226 to rank 31st. Baker is making her first appearance since the season opener, where she carded a 74 in the second round, an 11-stroke improvement from her first. Moretti in her last tournament posted two 75s, matching career-lows.
The Golden Eagles' last trips to Georgia were in Augusta and Macon during the 2017-18 season, but the latter came at the Brickyard Golf Club. The squad did finish tied for second and two strokes off first (behind host Mercer) at the 2016 Idle Hour Collegiate. The since-graduated Nichada Satasuk finished sixth.
As a team, Southern Miss has improved its score from its second to third rounds each event.
