Robbie Latter Named Conference USA Men’s Golfer of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss freshman Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) earned the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance Monday and Tuesday at the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport, W.Va.
The Golden Eagle, who tied his career low round over the final 18 holes with a 69, finished with a 215 total, just two strokes behind the individual medalist. Latter tied with four other players for second place in the event and jumped from ninth into the second position over the final circuit.
Latter bettered each round as the tournament progressed, starting with a 75, before finishing with a 71 and 69. He led the tournament in par 4 scoring with a -5 with a 3.83 average. His final-round score tied two others for the lowest round score.
Over his first nine career rounds, Latter has finished at or below par six times. It was his first Top 10 finish for the program.
The play by the freshman helped the Golden Eagles post a third-place finish as they collected team scores of 298 and 287 to complete the 54-hole event at the 7,308-yard, par-72 Pete Dye Golf Club with a 885, finishing 21 strokes behind No. 25 and host West Virginia (864), followed by league foe Florida Atlantic (867) by 18 strokes.
This is the first weekly award for the Golden Eagles this season.
