Men's Tennis Wraps Up ITA Southern Regional

AUBURN, Ala. -- Matthieu Peres' opening-round victory over Auburn's Diego Chavarria highlighted a strong two-day trip for the Southern Miss men's tennis team at the ITA Regionals.
"This was a good tournament," head coach Zubin Engineer said. "We got good insights about each player's individual areas to improve and work on before the season."
Peres' opponent was not only playing in his home venue, but also 9-7 last season. LSU's Nick Watson got the upper hand in the Thursday afternoon tilt.
There was no formal consolation bracket set, but the Golden Eagles picked up additional matches for Wang and Peres. Wang earned a pair of wins against Samford and Jacksonville State after limited action in the Southern Miss Invitational (Sept. 28-29).
Next up for the Golden Eagles is the Samford Invitational from Nov. 7-10 which will conclude the fall slate.
