Three Golden Eagles Named C-USA T&F Athletes of the Week

Southern Miss had three Athletes of the Week based on their performances at Vanderbilt.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Three Golden Eagles were named Conference USA Track & Field Athletes of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
John Warren, McKinely West and Rikianne Patterson were recognized by the conference for having outstanding performances in the past week. Warren and Patterson were named Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week, while West was named Men's Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 22.
Warren, a senior from Prince George, Va., placed first in the triple jump at Vanderbilt with a mark of 55'2", becoming the No. 1 triple jump in the NCAA, the No. 3 in the world, and the new Southern Miss school record. This broke his own personal best, which was also the school record, of 53'7.5". He also competed in the long jump, with a mark of 25'0.75", a new personal best.
West, a Georgia native, competed in both the 60m and the 200m, placing top-5 in both. In the 200m, West placed first in 21.44; his time currently leads the conference. In the 60m, he finished in 6.68, placing second. His time for the 60m also currently leads the conference.
Patterson, a sophomore from New Orleans, placed fourth in long jump with a mark of 20'3". Her jump is second in Conference USA so far, but she broke her personal best at Vanderbilt. Her previous best was 19'11.75".

The Golden Eagles head to Lexington, Ky. for the Kentucky Invitational in the first two days of February.
