BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lady Eagles of Southern Miss Women's Basketball look to add to their win column Saturday afternoon in Bartow Arena against the Blazers of UAB.

The Lady Eagles (8-8, 0-3) and the Blazers (14-2, 2-1) have a storied history, and the matchup is the second-most played matchup for Southern Miss, with 62 games played overall. USM owns the all-time series, 40-22, with a 16-14 record when playing in Bartow Arena. Southern Miss has a 16-9 record against UAB under head coach Joye Lee-McNelis.Â

The Blazers are led by Rachael Childress in points 240, Katelynn Thomas for boards with 97, and Miyah Barnes in assists with 90. All three are juniors for UAB. The Lady Eagles are led by Megan Brown in both points and rebounds, with 159 points and 82 boards. Shonte Hailes continues to shine as Southern Miss' leading assister with 66.

Southern Miss comes off a tough road loss against Middle Tennessee, where they fell 49-66 to the Blue Raiders in Murphy Center. The Lady Eagles have won six of the last eight against the Blue Raiders, and still lead the series 8-4 and are now 2-2 when in the Murphy Center.

Against the Blazers, the Lady Eagles have won five of their last eight games. Southern Miss defeated UAB last season in January, 80-63 on the Blazer's home court of Bartow Arena. In that game, now-junior Shonte Hailes played all 40 minutes, was 9-for-13 from the field, 4-for-6 from the 3-point line and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. She and Megan Brown each had a 20-point game, Hailes with 28 and Brown with 21. Brown was 7-for-15 from the field, 4-for-5 from the 3-point arc and also a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. This season, Brown has a free throw percentage of .879 with a 29-33 record at the line.Â

The Blazers are also coming off of a loss – they were defeated by LA Tech 68-73 at home. UAB has scored more than 60 points in every game this season, with 11 of their 16 games being at or above 80 points.Â
