Southern Miss Glides Past FAMU

Hattiesburg, Miss. – In Tallahassee, Fla., the Southern Miss volleyball team made quick work of Florida A&M (25-13, 25-18, 25-29). The Golden Eagles cruised to a three-set win and moved their overall record to 6-2.
The 13 points Southern Miss allowed in the first set is tied for the lowest this season, which also occurred in a 3-1 win over Alcorn State. The Rattlers hit -.037 percent in the first set and .000 in the second set.
Southern Miss stayed hot at the net and hit .306 for the game. Kylie Grandy recorded 13 kills to lead the way and Alexis Coombs added nine. In total, the squad had 40 kills on 85 attempts.
Sarah Bell continued to chip away at the Southern Miss all-time assists record after getting 22 against FAMU. Defensively, Bell added 10 digs to go along with the 14 digs Madison Lawler recorded. Bell and Coombs each recorded a solo block.
The Golden Eagles continue play against Florida State on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m.

"It was a good night for our team. I feel like we were focused and executed the game plan. Sarah had a great night defensively and our serving was strong. We are looking forward to playing two strong programs tomorrow, including Coach McCall's alma matter."
