
Women's Golf heads to Colorado for Golfweek Conference Challenge

VAIL, Colo. -- Fresh off a school-record performance the previous weekend, the Southern Miss women's golf team eagerly awaits its next challenge on Monday, the three-day Golfweek Conference Challenge.
The action will take place at the Fazio course of the Red Sky Golf Club, a par-72, 6,309-yard range.Â
The Golden Eagles will trot out the same starting five as their last time out (USA Intercollegiate): Julie Baker, Cassidy Evreniadis, Valentina Haupt, Miranda Holt and Henriette Syr, teeing off at 10:45 a.m. MT alongside UC Riverside and East Tennessee State. This also marks the program's first outing in the mountain time zone since the 2008 C-USA Championships in El Paso.Â
The full field consists of Virginia Tech, SMU, Jacksonville, TCU, Sacramento State, Campbell, Nebraska, UC Riverside, Delaware, San Diego State, UCLA, Georgia, East Tennessee State, Central Arkansas, Denver, Troy and Pepperdine.
The Golden Eagles found themselves in 11th place after the first day before putting together sound performances over the following two rounds to finish fifth out of 17 teams with a program-record 872. Julie Baker (1-under, No. 11) and Henriette Syr (2-over, No. 19) each collected top-20 finishes.Â
